Yes, we love having books donated to our library. The process donated books is:
The librarian evaluates the book to determine reading level, content appropriateness, and condition. If it is determined that it will be used in the RHMS library it is processed and will be available to students.
If the book is not used in the RHMS library it will be offered to other school libraries in the district.
If not taken by another library, the book(s) will be re-purposed or donated.
Students must present their ASB/ID card in order to check out a book. Students may check out up to three books for three weeks at a time. At check out, the book will be stamped with the due date. Students can always see what is checked out to them by checking their Destiny account (directions for accessing this account can be found on the Library Haiku page). If the book is not returned after three weeks, it is overdue.
Returned – students return the book to the library and it is checked in.
Renewed – students bring the book to the library and, as long as there are no holds on the book, they can have it for another three weeks.
Replaced – If a student has lost the book, they will need to replace it. This can be done by buying a similar copy (hardback for hardback, etc) or by paying for the book in the main office.
If the original book is found after it has been replaced or paid for, students may keep the lost copy after it has been removed from the system or they may get a refund for up to 180 days. After 180 days there can be no refund as the book has been replaced.
If students or parents have concerns about a student's laptop, the student should bring the computer to the library from 9:30 – 10:30 every day (typically during Pride Time.) This is the time of day that RHMS has set aside when the library has extra support to assist students with their laptops. Our technician tries to be here at this time as well, so there is a possibility that students can have their computers fixed on the spot.
Loaner computers are given to students if we are not able to fix their computer or the computer needs to go to the shop. The loaner computer will be put on the student's account and they will be responsible for any damage done to the loaner while in their possession.
Students are responsible for the specific laptop they are issued. They must turn it in at the end of the school year. Before a student is issued a laptop, parents will need to read and sign a School Laptop Agreement (Español). If you decline to sign the form, your student will use a laptop at school but will not be allowed to take it home.
