Nuts and Bolts

Absence from School

If it is necessary for a student to be absent, a parent/guardian should call the school by 8:30 am. The automated attendance line (425-936-2461) can be used 24 hours a day to inform the school of student absences. When leaving a message, please state your name, your relationship to the student and the reason for the absence. If we don’t hear from a parent/guardian that a student is going to be absent, the absence will automatically be marked as unexcused. If your student will be arriving late or leaving early, it is best to call our main line directly or send a note with your student. Please allow a minimum of 15 minutes for us to locate your student and have him/her ready for early dismissal pick up.

Find more details in our Attendance page.

Messages for Students

Should you need to get a message to your student during school hours, please call our main line (425-936-2460) and we will do our best to get the message to your student. Our school policy states that student cell phones must be turned off between the hours of 7:55 am and 2:30 pm so please help your student be successful by not communicating with them via their cell phone during the school day. Cell phones may be turned back on after 2:30 pm.
Forgotten items can be dropped off in the Office. Students will be responsible for checking in the office between classes for these items.

Communication via E-mail

Communicating with staff via email follows this pattern:
• First initial of the first name + last name @lwsd.org (i.e. Erin Bowser would be ebowser@lwsd.org)
• There are some exceptions to this rule, so please visit our Staff Directory

Parent Access

The old Parent Access portal is gone! To access Skyward, Online Payments, FinalForms (Athletic Registration), Powerschool Learning, School & Bus Finder and other helpful resources, visit the district's For Students and Families page. For login or access questions, email ParentQuestions@lwsd.org.

Student Planner

At the beginning of the year, each student receives a free student planner to use for keeping track of assignments. Included in the front of the planner is the student handbook. Please review this information with your child. Replacement cost is $5.00.

Physical Education (PE) Uniforms

A t-shirt, gym shorts, white socks, and white-soled shoes are required for PE classes. The mandatory PE t-shirt is available for purchase in the Office. The cost is $5.00. Students may also want to have a sweatshirt available for outdoor activities. A towel and locker will be provided for each student who wishes to shower and/or lock their belongings. Locking up belongings at all times is strongly encouraged.

Athletics Information

Students participating in sports programs must pick up, complete and turn in a physical form and a LWSD Athletic Policy form before they can practice. Before the first game/match, an athlete must purchase an ASB Sticker and pay the Athletic Participation Fee. The athletic participation fees for the 2019-20 school year are $75.00 for one sport and $150.00 for 2 or more sports in addition to the ASB card fee. For students who do not have medical coverage, optional medical insurance forms are available in the Office. Please visit the Athletics page for more details and a complete listing of available sports by season. If you have athletic questions, please contact our Athletics Director, Shane O’Brien at 425-936-2460 or sobrien@lwsd.org.

School Lunches

A school lunch is $3.25 and breakfast is available before school for $1.75. Pre-payments to student accounts may be made by cash or check payable to Lake Washington School District. Visa or MasterCard deposits are available through the MySchoolBucks app. Applications for the district free or reduced lunch program are available in the Office.
